about

Born in England, raised in Canada and currently living in Texas, it probably comes as no surprise that Martin Webb’s music has an international flavor to it. But surprisingly, it’s not the influences of Brit-Pop or Texas blues that color his music, but the sounds of north Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. Blending an approach that sits firmly between the worlds of progressive rock and modern jazz, Webb creates music that highlights his compositional and instrumental skills while defying easy categorization. Call it ear candy for the thinking man or woman.

Here's what the critics are saying about Martin Webb:

"Happenstance turns out to be a very interesting album; a fine combination of progressive rock in the vein of King Crimson and strong guitar fusion.

Happenstance is a stunning journey to the east. " - Pedro Bekkers

There is a lot to take in with Happenstance. The melodies, song structures and tones form a musical palette that you just might find highly addictive."

"I have discovered quite a few artists this year and Martin Webb is certainly up there amongst the best. Happenstance is an album I highly recommend to fans of progressive rock and fusion" - Jon Neudorf

“Martin Webb inhabits that gray zone between progressive rock, jazz fusion and world music that only a brave few (Steve Tibbetts, Terje Rypdal and Mark Isham, for instance) have heretofore ventured into. And like these who’ve come before him, Webb works with a sound palette that’s both eclectic and esoteric, utilizing middle- eastern scales, syncopation, tribal drumming, fusion-fueled guitar pyrotechnics and a melodic sense often “outside” the boundaries of conventional rock..” - Charles Van De Kree, www.auralinnovations.com/issues/issue43/martinwebb.html
